Antiferromagnetic order in the FFLO state
We investigate the antiferromagnetic (AF) order in the d-wave superconducting (SC) state at high magnetic fields. A two-dimensional model with on-site repulsion U , intersite attractive interaction V and antiferromagnetic exchange interaction J is solved using the mean field theory. For finite values of U and J , a first order transition occurs from the normal state to the FFLO state, while the...
متن کاملOptospintronics in Graphene via Proximity Coupling
The observation of micrometer size spin relaxation makes graphene a promising material for applications in spintronics requiring long-distance spin communication. However, spin dependent scatterings at the contact/graphene interfaces affect the spin injection efficiencies and hence prevent the material from achieving its full potential. While this major issue could be eliminated by nondestructi...
متن کاملSuperposition of Transcriptional Behaviors Determines Gene State
We introduce a novel technique to determine the expression state of a gene from quantitative information measuring its expression. Adopting a productive abstraction from current thinking in molecular biology, we consider two expression states for a gene--Up or Down. We determine this state by using a statistical model that assumes the data behaves as a combination of two biological distribution...
متن کاملThe ferro / antiferromagnetic q - state Potts model
The critical properties of the mixed ferro/antiferromagnetic q-state Potts model on the square lattice are investigated using the numerical transfer matrix technique. The transition temperature is found to be substantially lower than previously found for q = 3. It is conjectured that there is no transition for q > 3, in contradiction with previous results.
متن کاملParticle-hole symmetry in the antiferromagnetic state of the cuprates.
In the layered cuprate perovskites, the occurrence of high-temperature superconductivity seems deeply related to the unusual nature of the hole excitations. The limiting case of a very small number of holes diffusing in the antiferromagnetic (AF) background may provide important insights into this problem. We have investigated the transport properties in a series of crystals of YBa(2)Cu(3)O(y),...
